Jared 'n' Jessa hit the big time!

Starting this January, our old friends Jessa and Jared get their own strip! They'll be appearing in every (quarterly) issue of the Park Slope Reader, and in fact you might well be a Reader reader who's here to find out more about them. So here's the scoop:

Lulu 'n' Hershey have hung out in Cafe Perspectivo since pretty much the beginning of their strip. Last March (when, as you can see, they looked rather different to how they look now) they saved it from going out of business when they were able to buy out the lease with the money they were getting for appearing in The Berkshire Edge ... yeah, right ...

Back then, Cafe Perspectivo only had two people working there.

There was Jared:

And there was Jessa:

Lulu 'n' Hershey were delighted to be hanging out with a pair of hipsters, and briefly became hipsters themselves ... which led on to their celebrated tattooed cartoon dogs episode ...

Jared and Jessa soon became key characters in the Cafe Perspectivo saga ... We learned, for example, that Jessa had enjoyed a long career as a performance artist ...

... and that J 'n' J had plenty of smart marketing ideas ...

(This one initiated the Hershey's career in pop music sequence ...)

And there was even this harrowing episode last January ...

Yes, we even wrote Jared out of the strip as part of a sequence of drawings about gun violence. But as you now know Jared 'n' Jessa 'n' Lulu 'n' Hershey live in a cartoon reality where anything can happen ... and to take this back to where we started, Jared is not only back, large as life, he and Jessa are starring in their own strip ...
